Helias Doundoulakis was born in Canton, Ohio, in 1923. A decorated US Army and OSS veteran of World War II, he graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic (NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering) and became a civil engineer. He worked for structural engineering firms Severud-Elstad-Krueger and Emery Roth on notable works such as the Pan Am (MetLife) Building in New York City, and Grumman Aerospace for NASA’s Apollo Space Mission, the Space Shuttle, and the F-14 Tomcat. He is the author of four other books: I Was Trained to be a Spy Books I and II, Trained to be an OSS Spy and My Unique Lifetime Association With Patrick Leigh Fermor.
